That distinctive coastal mineral spirit carries right through, carried by a rich, mouth-coating texture. Spicy cinnamon and fresh orange peel hit upfront, before honey, walnut oil, and soft, ripe red fruits lift the mid-palate.

A 19 year old peated mystery Highland Single Malt, selected and bottled the brilliant Thompson Bros. A beautiful label, designed by the excellent WhiskyHobo.

A generously aged, teaspooned blended Speyside malt from Thompson Bros., and if you're good at anagrams, the name might give you a clue as to its origins! This 1989 vintage malt spent 36 years maturing in a single hogshead before bottling in 2026.

Glen Elgin 22 yo 2004/2026 (52.2%, Thompson Bros., for Dornoch Castle, refill hogshead, cask #801309, 261 bottles).
Fruity and weighty Glen Elgin spirit utilising worm tubs.

Batch 2. The refill casks let the distillate take centre stage, which suits Clynelish particularly well, keeping that classic waxy Highland character clear while allowing the whisky’s bright citrus and fruit notes to shine.

A 35 year old mystery blended malt from the team at the Thompson Bros. A teaspooned Speyside from a well known, not so secret distillery will leave an Enviable taste on your tongue.

TB/BSW 9 Year Old Final Batch is the closing chapter in one of Thompson Bros’ most distinctive and unexpectedly successful creations. What began as a chance encounter with a parcel of rich, sherry-seasoned casks became a blend with a character far greater than anyone had planned, and over time it has become a genuine staple of the range. Bottled at 45% ABV, this final batch carries the same honest, Highland soul that defined earlier releases, but with added maturity from the extra years spent resting in wood.

This 2006 Glen Garioch from Thompson Bros was bottled at 20 years old from two red wine barriques, with an outturn of 357 bottles and a natural strength of 52.1% ABV. The red wine casks give the whisky a darker, more fruit-driven profile, which works especially well with Glen Garioch’s naturally robust Highland character. Rather than simply adding sweetness, the barriques bring depth, structure and a drier edge that gives the whisky a more distinctive shape.

A sherry cask edition of Thompson Bros’ An Edinburgh Dram, distilled in 2008 at Edinburgh’s North British Distillery and matured for 17 years in sherry oak.

Longmorn has quietly provided a sweet and deeply fruity component to a multiplicity of blends since its founding. Its ferments are long, the distillation takes place in eight thick-necked stills, giving a make which is weighty enough to age well in both ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon.

In Speyside, the climate leaves its mark on the hills, the streams and the spirit. Glenburgie 2009 is a fine expression of that: an amber single malt, bottled by Thompson Bros. of Dornoch after more than 17 years in selected casks. A meeting of place, time and craft, and a reason Speyside is still seen as the centre of Scotch whisky.

The true contents are revealed on labels under the capsule, on the cork and neck. Each series of MYSTERY MALT has a wide range of possibilities from new wave single casks to very old Single Malt Whisky from established distilleries.

Aged for a minimum of 5 years, this batch is a meticulous assembly of Sutherland’s finest: 73.72% Clynelish for that irreplaceable texture, 26.28% Dornoch Distillery spirit for Highland soul, and the obligatory “teaspoon” from the county’s other, legendary distillery.
