These terms are a draft for publication. They are not legal advice. Insert the company registration number and address, and have them reviewed under Swedish alcohol and consumer law before use.

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of agrainofmalt.se and any related pages, newsletters and booking correspondence with A Grain of Malt AB (“we”, “us”, “the company”).

By using the website you agree to these terms. If you book a tasting or other event, the event terms in section 7 also apply to that booking.

We do not sell bottles through this website.

2. What this website is

A Grain of Malt AB is an independent Swedish importer of single malt Scotch whisky. We source casks and bottled releases and bring them into Sweden through licensed wholesale channels.

The website is for information, editorial content and event bookings. It is not a webshop.

All bottled releases we import are offered to consumers exclusively through Systembolaget. A link marked “Secure on Systembolaget” or similar takes you to Systembolaget’s own site. Purchase, price, stock, age check, delivery and returns are then a contract between you and Systembolaget AB, on Systembolaget’s terms. We do not take payment for bottles, we do not hold consumer stock for direct sale, and we do not arrange private import or distance sale of spirits to consumers.

Product pages may say “Coming soon” or give an expected listing date. Those dates are indicative. Listing, allocation and availability are decided by Systembolaget and can change without notice.

3. Age

Content on this site is intended for adults.

  • Serving of alcohol at our tastings follows Swedish serving rules. You must be at least 18, and the venue may ask for valid photo ID. We, or the venue, may refuse entry or service.
  • Buying spirits at Systembolaget requires you to be at least 20. That check is Systembolaget’s.

Do not use the site to encourage underage drinking. Drink responsibly.

4. Product information

We describe distillery, vintage, cask, bottler, age, strength and character in good faith, from information supplied by the producer or bottler and from our own assessment.

Whisky is a natural product. Colour, nose and taste can vary between casks and bottlings. ABV, age statement, outturn and cask type on a product page are believed to be correct at the time of writing, but the label on the bottle and the Systembolaget product page are the authoritative consumer information at the point of sale.

We do not claim that any whisky has health benefits. Nothing on the site is dietary, medical or investment advice. Cask ownership, allocations and secondary-market prices are outside these terms unless we have a separate written agreement with you.

Third-party names (distilleries, bottlers such as Thompson Bros., regional names, and Systembolaget) are used to identify origin. They remain the property of their owners. Mention does not mean endorsement by them.

5. Intellectual property

Text, layout, selection of releases, photographs, graphics and the name and logo “A Grain of Malt” are owned by us or used under licence.

You may share a link to a page and quote a short extract with credit and a link, for private or editorial use under CC BY-NC 4.0: Allows redistribution of unadapted copies (commercial or non-commercial), as long as credit is given, but no modifications or remixes are allowed to be shared publicly. You may not copy the site, scrape it, reuse our images, or use the name or logo in a way that suggests you are us or an authorised reseller, without written consent.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use the site in breach of Swedish alcohol law or marketing rules for alcohol
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting, or other users’ data
  • upload malware, or overload the service
  • post or send unlawful, defamatory or misleading content to us
  • frame the site or suggest an official partnership that does not exist

We may suspend access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.

7. Tastings and events

Some pages offer nosing and tasting events, for example at a hotel. Unless a page says otherwise:

  • A booking is made when we confirm it by email. A request to info@agrainofmalt.se is not a booking until we confirm a seat.
  • Price, place, time and number of seats are as stated on the event page or in the confirmation. The price includes the described drams, water and glassware unless we say otherwise. Travel, food and hotel are not included.
  • Seats are limited. We may operate a waiting list.
  • Payment instructions are in the confirmation. The seat is held only once we have received payment, if payment is required in advance.
  • The event is held at a third-party venue. The venue’s house rules apply. We may refuse service to anyone who is visibly intoxicated or disruptive, without refund of the unused portion if the refusal is reasonable.
  • Programmed whiskies may change if a cask or bottle is unavailable. We will substitute a comparable dram. That is not a defect.
  • The event may be cancelled or moved if the venue cancels, if fewer than a stated minimum book, or for reasons outside our reasonable control. If we cancel, we refund the fee you paid us. We are not liable for travel or hotel costs you have already incurred, except where mandatory law says otherwise.
  • You may cancel by email. More than 7 days before the event: full refund of the fee paid to us. 7 days or fewer: no refund, unless we can resell the seat or mandatory law gives you a wider right. You may transfer the seat to another adult by telling us the name before the event.

A tasting on a fixed date is a leisure service at a specified time. The statutory right of withdrawal for distance contracts generally does not apply to that kind of booking. This does not affect rights you cannot waive under Swedish consumer law.

8. Links and third parties

Links to Systembolaget, distilleries, venues and other sites are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, prices or privacy practices.

9. Liability

The site is provided in good faith. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

We are not liable for Systembolaget’s stock, pricing, delivery, or for decisions you make based on editorial text. We are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost profit or lost enjoyment, except in cases of intent or gross negligence, personal injury, or where Swedish mandatory law (including consumer law) does not allow the limitation.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Privacy and cookies

Use of the site may involve processing of personal data, for example if you email us to book a seat or if the site sets cookies. Details are in our privacy notice at agrainofmalt.se/privacy. Cookie choices can be changed via the consent tool on the site.

11. Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. The “last updated” date will change. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms. A change does not affect an event booking already confirmed, unless the change is required by law or we agree it with you.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, you also have the protection of mandatory rules in your country of residence within the EU/EEA, and you may use the EU online dispute resolution platform or the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) where the dispute falls within its competence.

Disputes that are not consumer disputes are heard by the district court that has jurisdiction over our registered seat.
